Why I Started This

Why I Built
Borrowed Wisdom

My name is Alex Cheeseman.

I've spent most of my life pulled towards innovation, startups, technology, and the strange, messy business of understanding why people do what they do.

Borrowed Wisdom started with a simple frustration.

There are a lot of young people walking into a world that feels faster, harsher, more competitive, and less certain than the one many of us entered. They need guidance. Not theory. Not another motivational quote stitched onto a sunset. Real guidance. From people who have been knocked around a bit. Built things. Lost things. Learned things the hard way.

At the same time, I know a lot of experienced people who want to help. They just don't always have the time to mentor someone every week, take calls, join programmes, or commit to another thing in an already overcommitted life.

So Borrowed Wisdom is my attempt to connect those two truths.

Young people need better access to hard-earned advice.

Experienced people often have wisdom to give, but limited time to give it.

This is not a grand commercial plan. It is not a startup pitch dressed up as a social mission. Maybe one day, if there is enough good advice here, it becomes a book and every penny goes to charity. That would be lovely.

But that is not why I built it.

I built it because it is too easy to see problems in the world, decide they are too big, and quietly carry on with your life.

This is my small refusal to do that.

Borrowed Wisdom is not trying to save the world.

It is trying to pass on a few things that might help someone move through it with a little more confidence, courage, and clarity.
